Feeding (and Serving) a HUGE Crowd

OK....
Lets say you wanna throw a big party.
Lets say you wanna throw a HUGE party.

Kinda like our Annual
"Triple Birthday Bash & Crawfish/Low Country Boil"
That just happens to be TODAY!

Lets say you wanna be able to actually enjoy that party without being strapped to the serving table refilling your biggest Tupperware bowls with yummy food for your hungry guests.

What do ya do?
Cooking for a huge crowd isn't really that hard, once you get an assembly line going.

But having all that food accessible to those guests without running yourself ragged re-filling them can be a challenge.

It's time to think outside the Tupperware serving bowls and large disposable aluminum pans!

Why not toss that hot BBQ chicken, or cold potato salad, or hamburger patties, or crawfish, or shrimp, or crabs, or hot-dogs into a clean ...

Igloo cooler?

  • It's food safe
  • It's easy to clean
  • It'll keep your food hot or cold forever.
  • It has a lid to keep our pesky flies and dirt
  • it's portable!
  • you can find em in any size you need
  • they are reusable!!
You need even more room than the biggest cooler can hold, you say?
Really?
REALLY??

Well then,

How about a big (brand new)

Metal Trash Can
You didn't see THAT coming did ya??

I am using one today to hold some of the 200+ lbs of crawfish I'm serving.

NOTE!!! if you buy a galvanized trash can, you MUST burn it before it can be used for food.
It's not hard, and it'll burn out any pesky chemicals that could leach into the food we worked so hard preparing.

and I'm gonna show ya how!

Step One..
toss some paper or cardboard into the brand new trash can.
Step Two..
Toss some wood on top of the paper/cardboard.

Step Three..
Light the paper/cardboard on fire.

See on the side where the pretty shiny trashcan is getting cloudy looking?
That means it's working.
After burning, your sparkly brand-new trashcan, wont be as pretty...
But it won't kill you to eat food out of it... Fair trade-off, I think... Don't you?

Keep the fire burning as you watch the transformation from shiny to dull spread.

When your can is completely dull color,

Step Four..
Put the lid on it and allow it to cool.

Step Five..
once cool, wash the inside of the can out to remove any ash.

Step Six..
Dump food into the trashcan.
Step Seven..
Walk away and let your guests dig in!

And...
If your like me...
Your always looking for a better way to serve scoops of food..
Like cooked crawfish, boiled potatoes and corn on the cob quickly, without getting your, or your guests, hands all nasty.

Go to the feed store...
Buy yourself some brand spankin new...

Feed Scoops!

They work perfectly for scooping into the Coolers or Trash cans!
These are my new scoops for the seafood boil today!

Pretty nifty huh?

Stay tuned for the step by step on throwing a Great Seafood Boil and still enjoying your party!

Have a great week-end!
